    Default Online Dive Log

If this isn't the right place, feel free to move it. Ive always used a paper log and have been exploring several online logs and apps and they all seem very not user friendly or more so geared towards the other side of the world (metrics, etc).

Anyways, Im a programmer and am wanting to create something more usable for me, does anyone have any interest in using something like this? I think one of the big things for me is that I want it to be a logbook that is extremely sortable and customizable. I feel like anything digital has to be easier than writing it on paper to make it work. I know several of you use Excel for logs, I currently use that too. What I don't want is for it to be full of advertising or social media which also seems to be common.

And of course this is something useful and fun for me, it'd have a cost of nothing.

Do you mean "online", or "digital"? If it is really online, who would host it?

Have you looked at Diving Log? While it was in fact created by a guy in Germany, it's highly, highly customizable, you can design your pages, your reports, etc, all using a little VBA (for the reports and some other functions.)

I don't have the discipline to do what I want with it (former programmer) but there's really a lot there and all the options for using metric/imperial.

I foresee starting with online, something that could also be mobile friendly though. Its much easier to do this than to develop apps for Microsoft, Apple, Google, etc. I would provide the hosting on one of my servers. Based on the number of certified divers, I see no need to worry about the costs associated with the data. That said the data that you put in would also be very easy to export and use without the site (excel, pdf, etc).

Would this log be to keep track of actual dives, or internet dives?

Well, I figure that if you can get your fills online, then anything is possible.

I was referring to divinglog.de, you are correct. Diving Log itself is not available on ios but it's companion Dive Log for iOs is.
