Default WTB Used Primary LED light

I'm in the market for a good used LED primary light if anyone has anything for sale.

I'm currently using a Hollis LED 6 (300 lumen) and need something with a little more punch. I don't really have an extra grand laying around for a new can light so I'm looking for something mid-range...

    Thanks

Was about to say call UWLD for their conversion kit, but then realized the led 6 is a handheld.

Honestly I'd get the Hog Morph system. You're in for $500 for 1000 lumen with decent battery life. As you progress a bit more in your diving you can buy the backup light body and use the spot as a backup light, and switch the can over to one or two video heads which makes an awesome little gopro light setup.

The DRIS 1K Shorty gives you 1000 lumens for just over $100.

I started with a can-less primary... and have nearly 200 cave dives without a cannister. I'm currently using the DRIS 1K Shorty, but I would go with the DRIS Impact Shorty with the spot head (disposable vs rechargeable). Somewhere between $100 and $200 and you've got 1000 lumens, and no cord.

Wouldn't the shorty give you less burn time (smaller battery capacity)??

Yeah, but either way it's enough to make it through any of the dives I do. Just pick up a few extra 26650 LiIon batteries, and drop a new one in whenever.

Handhelds are okay, and I've done most of my diving with them, but lets not kid ourselves. Even with high end rechargeable the output drops pretty quickly. Additionally, it's worth noting the 1K's aren't even close to 1000 lumens, but everyone lies about that number.

Output drop depends on the LED driver more than the battery.

Sure, Vdroop can be adjusted for, but a battery has a fixed amount of energy. I'm saying handhelds often don't have enough battery capacity to handle full output for the length of a longer dive.

Cmint, have you looked at some of the new cordless primary lights?
I recently purchased a Dive Rite RX8 and am really enjoying it. good performance and no cord/canister. The value compared to canister lights is also very attractive. DR has since come out with a new one as well, the LX20 I think.
