Default The "new and improved" DR light cords...

Has anyone had their diverite light cord switched to their "new and improved" black cord yet?

I am just not sure that I want to go through losing my primary light again on a "lots of work" dive. You know, the kind where you haul your gear across swamp and mudholes. Only to get there and have the light work for 1 min and then "go out". Only to turn it off and then turn it on, and it works again for a short time. You figure out that if the cord is "moved" it goes out, so you switch to a backup light. Now the dive sucks because you did all this work to have an enjoyable dive and now you're looking at stuff 30 ft away from you instead of 100ft.

This current cord was the third time I have sent my light in and they said I got the "upgraded glands", but the light only lasted 8 dives this time. (the least of any of the times)

So... has anyone actually "field tested" their new cord? I really do not want to go through this problem again.

I am honestly thinking of selling this light and going to the Salvo. (sorry Jordan, it's true.)

Ok, I'll ship it out Monday. Hopefully for the last time on this issue...

Sorry Jordan but your information is partially correct.

DR's new cord is a 16/2 cord. Not the same size as Salvo’s but it is from the same source. I saw the new cord today on Ralph’s light.

Oh No! well i'm about 8 dives into a third fix with the new and improved glands on my 21w as well on an orange cord and this does not sound good. my 10w has the same cord and the old glands and i'm now worried about it also (my mr11 has the old grey cord and that is definitiely a comfort). i guess i might start carrying a backup primary. Will be looking forward to info about the black cord fix. Bill

Yep - a lil smaller. I didn't think to mention that. Thanks Dwain.

Kelly, whatever floats your boat. You have the luxury of having people like you so you know you can get your light upgraded when/if it breaks....same w/ you Bill.

I don't know about you Tegg.

    There's a problem with everything.

OK, seriously now, the original grey cords worked great, except got stiff in cold water. The orange cords work great but break too much. You have advantages and disadvantages with all of them, just like anything else.

I have the H1 with the old old grey cord. Never had a problem with it. Of course, I don't use it to drive nails on the wall like Dwain does with his light.
