Default Peacock I and Orange Grove 4/28

Just got in tonight after a great day of diving with Dan (Navycaver). We started off the morning (a little late--my fault), with a dive starting at Peacock I, and headed up the peanut line to set up for the "Grand Tour". We made it past the peanut restriction, but not quite as far as we would have liked (SM, LP-85's). After a quick trip to Cave Excursions, we set out from Orange Grove, but this time brought a single stage in addition to the 85's. We made it almost to Challenge, but were at 1/3rds and turned the dive.
Visibility in Peacock I was great, I'd say 40' plus, and Orange Grove was really clear, at least 50'. Within the system there's a fair amount of dark silt on the rocks, and a bit of particulate in the water--but there were very few places with less than 30' of visibility.
All in all, a fun day of diving (esp. for my first trip to Peacock). Next time, we'll try it with 108's...and hopefully complete the traverse.

Sounds like you had fun and did the right thing to turn. The extra couple feet of water in the system will change gas consumption noticeably.

Huxley you are correct. But that is not what changed it.
I was running the reel at Orange Grove. I had a brain fart and swam in twards Lower Orange Grove and killed time and gas prior to getting back up in the tunnel for Orange Grove.

But as Al said great dives. Saw some very interesting side tunnels on the way out of Orange Grove; I plan to go back and check out.

We did a dive in P1 on Saturday up Peanut and then over to the Cross-over. We were on the lookout for "Dark Water" (as there was after the last flood).
No Dark water to be found.
Went up over Olsen , over to the Peanut Line and back out.
Water was a little on the cool side (68-69 degrees)

Did one on Sunday also...Went up to the Peanut Restriction , took a left towards Challenge, and noticed the vis got more cloudy going up towards Challenge.
We turned around and then took the main line to Olsen and back down to P1.
Water was a bit darker heading past Cistine and Nicholson but not bad.

All in all , very nice! (SMILE)

Myself and MA, died a dive from P1 to Waterhole III on Sunday. The Peanut line was very cloudy. The Waterhole line was worse. It had silt on everything and leaves and twigs scatter throughout. The line was very loose at the beginning as well, but we fixed that. Lots of silt on the walls and line, and life everywhere. Vis was 20' or so. Beautiful dive! We both loved it.
