Did the two dives yesterday with Shirley of recent sump fame. It was a bit chilly suiting up in the morning for the run through the Breakdown Room to the Peanut restriction but the sky was clear and we had the park to ourselves. The water level is low, but the visibility in the basin is just outstanding. Visibility in the cave was excellent as well. This was my first dive after a five month layoff (I work in Afghanistan so only dive when I am out on a break). Went really well and it was great being back in the water after such a long layoff.

After a quick lunch at the Luraville store (is there any other kind these days?) we came back to the park for a second dive. Orange Grove to Challenge was equally as good- great vis in the basin and the system. We didn't have the place to ourselves in the afternoon but it was a bit warmer than the morning suit-up. This was my farthest trip in the Orange Grove system (did a lot of training there last year but no long penetrations). I really enjoyed the "canyon" system at 800' in- just beautiful formations, as most of you know.

We wrapped up the day with dinner in Branford and a couple beers in Live Oak. It was great being back in North Florida. I am seriously considering buying a place in the area; I am essentially homeless now and with the overseas work it would be a very doable option. Plus that gives Ms. Sump a place to stay and keep an eye on, since she virtually lives in cave country anyway!
