Default Appropriate caves for Intro level divers?

    Mornng all!

I'm finding a few buddies that may make going to cave country easier. However, most of them are much more experienced. I'd like to research appropriate caves for my (Intro) level and get maps, watch videos, etc.

What caves are best for me to look at?

    Thanks!

    Devil's Eye
    Little River
    Peacock, Orange Grove
Telford (once the river goes down)
    Downstream Cow
    Jackson Blue
    Twin Cave
    Hole in the Wall
    Manatee
Madison Blue (when it clears out)
    To name a few

Maps are available at most dive shops in the area, as well as NSS-CDS, and NACD.

search this site - this same post comes up about every 1-3 months. There's got to be 10 of them from the last 2 years.
Cave Atlas will give you all the info you want but it's good to know which caves you want to look at. However, there is a list of nearby caves which gives a level requirement but won't really tell you if it's good for Intro. I disagree with Telford on the list above (since anything more than a couple hundred feet in a shallow cave violates Intro (navigational decisions)) otherwise a pretty good list. If your intro cert says anything about avoid minor restrictions, I'd say that takes out Hole in the Wall also (at the entrance.) Little River when the flow is down makes it tough because again you have the navigational decision issue at the first "T."
So I'm taking a few out:
    Devil's Eye
    Peacock
    Orange Grove
    Downstream Cow
    Jackson Blue
    Twin Cave
    Manatee
Madison Blue (when it clears out.)

Forrest, thanks! I was looking at the NSS-CDS store's map list and wasn't sure which ones to get.

IMO Peacock is an excellent beginners cavedive. Easy access, a large cavern lined to the entrance, and 2 tunnels to choose from once submerged. For line running practice Orangedale has a good long swim to the goldline without much flow which is good to practice but of course highflow linework would need to be practiced elsewhere.

Just get all the maps, eventually you will need them. And they make great decoration for your home as well, Now I just need to get the wife to let me hang all these maps I keep buying.

LOL - I have so many maps that I had to make a map cabinet for them. I used to spend a lot of time wilderness canoe tripping, so in addition to my cave maps I have piles of US and Canadian topographical maps. Of course the US ones and the Canadian ones are different sizes, and I think that every cave map is its own individual size. I ought to pick out some of my favorites and frame them to hang on the wall.
