CDF Thoughts..

Having been a member of the CDF for more than 10 years now, I just wanted to say that IMHO the moderation that is now present here simply sucks!
This used to be a place where you could discuss topics without fear of reprisal, anyone remember IRAP? And I'm sure most of you have read my rants and yes, we were all getting sick of the constant NACD crap, but to delete the most recent thread that Walter threw up about http://cavesalliance.com was simply pathetic.
As one of the more outspoken people in cave country when I choose to be, I find this forum is becoming perilously close to that time in Aprii when the clocks were striking thirteen and the populace was told that freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength and war is peace... People still ask me why I don't write "the local viewpoint" anymore and the reason I stopped is because I was censored.
PLEASE STOP ALREADY!!!

So now the CDF is divided? Ill admit Im sick of the NACD and all the crap going on with it, so I simply dont click onto it to read it. The thing is, the moderators have to read everything and I can see where that would suck. I hate scandal, turmoil and bad gossip and steer away from negative vibes at work, play or home.

Randy, it's not divided, just needs a little kick in the butt and some civil discussion that's all...
I tend to stay off TDS due to all the shenanigans that go on and I was glad the NACD stuff got deleted here as I was also sick of hearing about it. It just seems that lately, the moderation here has been done with a heavy hand.
I don't really know if there's a solution... there are a lot of newer cave divers showing up on here with big egos and bad attitudes, unfortunately this seems to be a trend around the country; people taking themselves way too seriously and being unable to laugh at themselves anymore. I wrote an article years ago about taking cave diving too seriously, I'll did around and see if i can find it!
As most of you know, I'm not averse to stirring the pot once in a while... but it should be done subtly, in a manner that makes people think about the subject matter involved, simply calling someone an ******* or whatever other name you can come up with is infantile and immature. I used to be a moderator on here years ago and frankly, the job sucks 'cause you're never going to please everybody. That being said, IMHO there has been a lot of censorship on here lately and I thought it would be good to chat about it and no offense, Russell but telling me to go to TDS isn't exactly being open to conversation about the topic...
I really like the CDF and wanted to bring this subject up, because lately it has started to be treated as a bit of a joke, at least from talking to my peers around cave country, a place where you can't speak your mind 'cause you'll be moderated. There has to be some kind of middle ground to be found here, I know all you Star Wars fans out there will remember Sith Master Wynn's phrase, "Without strife, your victory has no meaning. Without strife, you do not advance. Without strife, there is only stagnation....
Anyways, these are just my thoughts as always and I hope everyone's enjoying the cave diving this weekend, I'm back in the water tomorrow for six days and can't wait! Hopefully today will belong to the SF 49ers and the SF Giants....
