Marc and I dived Madison blue spring today and found very poor visibility in the cavern zone and lots of very thick silt on the bottom. Once past Martz sink it cleared up to 50 to 60 feet and once past the Half-hitch the visibility was 100 feet or greater. Cracking Blue. I Saw no particulate in the water whatsoever past half hitch.
The park manager has agreed to open Madison Blue spring to all but cavern divers starting immediately.
In some places the silt mounds are 6 inches deep and visibility can be reduced drastically in a moment.
