    Default N. Florida near Luraville

I just returned from 3 days of diving and trying to dive in N. Florida at Luraville. Believe it or not, almost no one is there this time of year. I was the only customer at Dive Outpost on Tuesday and again this morning. Bill's had only a couple of people too. I went to Peacock hoping to find a sympatric dive buddy but no one was there Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday three classes were going on with only one student per each instructor. Thursday I was the only car in the parking area and I waited a full hour.

So I dove Convict Springs twice since I was camping there at River Rendezvous, Once on Tuesday at 9:30PM and again on Wednesday in the afternoon. Nasty tight little cave and very silty. I solo'd and didn't get too far in on Tuesday. Wednesday I got in about 500 feet to a really tight sandy tunnel where I turned the dive. Thursday I went to Little River and met Jim Wyatt and Bird both teaching a private class so I solo'd there just doing the circuit, Merry Go Round to Serpentine. Water is clear, mild flow, so I took the time to poke around a little and made plans to go to a few spots I noticed this trip, the next go round.

Just a note. One of the owners of Convict Springs asked if anyone could put a new line in the cave. If you feel competent to do so, call Dan Saethre at River Rendezvous 386-294-2510.

Try going on a weekend. The last 2 times I've been at Peacock, there were over a dozen vehicles in the Orange Grove parking area!

I was there a week ago Fri. & Sat. Not a huge amount of traffic on Fri., but on Sat. the parking lots of both Orange Grove & Peacock were pretty much full.

This is usually the week I am down in the area cave diving and it's always been sparse....which is why I go this week in March.

Last Sunday was pretty sparse as well. I think Saturday is the average busiest day. It sucks if your looking for a buddy , but nice if your not.

Still quiet at Peacock and Dive Outpost. Doesn't hurt my feelings. Great day of diving.

Great dive, good reason for weekday diving!

Shhhh. That's when I'm able to get down there. I kind of like the peace and quiet!

Curious, Jeff Marchand and I patched the line where needed this past fall. Is the line needing replacement, or are they wanting gold line in the cave? I'd be glad to recruit one of my buddies and do whatever they desire-- these owners are some of the nicest people you'll ever come across, but the thickest line I have is #36. I'll call him tomorrow to see what he's wanting. If it's gold line, does anyone know where to order it from?
