    Default P3 Spring Tunnel

Anyone been down Spring Tunnel in P3?

    Backmountable?
    Conditions?
    Restriction?

    Thanks

Backmountable but you would be sorry about it. very silty. flow is very slow. it is pretty if you are the first in. definitely needs a jump reel as exit might be in lower viz.

This is my favorite dive at P3. You can easily do this clean on backmount as long as you go slow and take your time. Restriction is a few feet at the beginning, wide tunnel but low ceiling. Bobby did it on the breather, I was on doubles.. After the restriction, it opens beautifully for a while long. It is a wonderful dive. Lots of depth changes which was not fun for the rebreather diver, but it was fun for me to watch. Flow was moderate when we did it at end of May.

Its a real cool tunnel, certainly worth the dive. Its a little small in BM in the very beginning, but it opens of right after that. Theres weird things on the line in that tunnel, too. I remember some sort of metal clip holding two loops of line together... pretty unique.

It is actually pretty easy backmount, but you do have to go slow and careful, and may stir up a little. On July 18, viz was over 25' back there. From other reports, the whole cave has cleared some since then.

The jump is around p1000 IIRC, you'll see it but might have second thoughts about it at first (thinking it's too small)...opens up as everyone else has said.

Just did it a week ago today. (SMILE)
It a little nasty the first couple hundred feet BUT it does open very nicely.
Watch the poofies the 1st couple hundred feet or so.

There was hardly any flow in there but what we did POOF up was gone by the time we came back thru.

    Thanks!

P.S. Earlier this year , I tried going in there in backmount and REALLY poofed it up (we turned it for sure). Now in Sidemount , I don't poof it up nearly as bad.
Gads , me , a lifelong backmounter , now sidemounting...Who would have thunk it. (EEK)
