    Default p3 - Crossunder tunnel

Had a good dive in Peacock 3 today, viz seems to be getting better with not much siphon going on. We took the crossunder tunnel for the first time, but it kept getting smaller and smaller. We had to turn because we didn't have deco gas in p1, and my drysuit is leaking bad enough that I didn't want to commit to backgas deco. Does anyone know if it stays that deep the whole way? I'm assuming since it connects to p1 via the crypt that it stays between 70-90ft?

Hrm, maybe the way to do this dive is to do a setup and drop a stage half way to come back to? Otherwise that tunnel has a lot of perculation to be diving straight 1/3rds. How'd you guys do it?

James, just ask someone diving P1 to hang your deco bottles, if they ask about it, just say you're doing the Grand Traverse on air or something.....

    Default Interesting post

I was checking out this post you fellas have been involved in regarding Peacock III and the Crypt in Peacock I. Are you suggesting that there is a cave passage connecting Peacock III and Peacock I? This would be the first I have ever heard of this remarkable connection...
I would expect a post like this to be made at the beginning of April (fool's day) and not at the end of April.
On the other hand, I may be naive enough to believe that over 2000' of cave was added to the system without any maps/surveys being made connecting 2 independent cave systems. I took about a 6 year hiatus from cave diving and just started back recently, so I may have missed this connection. What's the story here?

i always thought there was a connection to Peacock I, via a passage from Peacock II... which would make the systems independent. but i've never attempted this dive.

Haven't I seen one of those rectangular survey markers near Peacock I?

The line is twisted line in there, and stained very dark brown/red so I don't think its a new thing, it looks like old line that's been through several floods.

I have never heard of a tunnel called the "cross under" tunnel in P3. The main branches I know of and have been in are the "spring feeder" tunnel and the "deep side mount tunnel" which is at the end of Henle's Castle. The Crypt in P1 had never been connected to anything yet. It is over 120' deep and is a "spring" tunnel. It MIGHT connect with lower Orange Grove or the end of the Castle. There is a tunnel between the P2 basin and P3 which is very silty and takes the bulk of the flow at low water levels...is this the "cross under" tunnel that you are referencing?

My guess is they are talking about the tunnel to P2, not P1.
