    Default Looking for new Primary

Looking to buy a new primary... Either 10w HID/LED... Show me what you got! Not looking to spend 1000.00 bucks on one, show me relatively inexpensive stuff!

Primary Light and Inexpensive do not really go well together unless you want to buy used.

I just bought the DR 15W HID and the DR 1000 Lumen LED primary lights to test side by side. I think the HID holds a tighter pattern and is better for signaling. The LED though really exceeded my expectations. It is a very bright, white light with nearly the same penetration as the HID! The LED light head is half the size of the HID and it is also less expensive.

Not to mention if you have to replace an HID bulb or two.

Thank-you for your advice but I know my primaries =) I've seen a number of 10w DR HIDs go for 300 or somewhat less on here... I do not mind used but I need to know the approximate hour usage on it.

The Tilly's are much more than $1,000, but we're arguably talking about the most important piece of cave diving gear you can own. I dive the LED 750 (TT3) and my buddy just picked up the Tilly LED 1000 (WARP). Both have multiple LEDs in the head and 10 hour + burn times. The WARP is focusable.

The wrong piece of gear (primary & backups) to be going "cheap" when you're a mile or two back in a cave or 2 to 3 hours from the entrance. It doesn' have to be a Tilly, but it should be something just as good IMO.

Rebreathers are something that we have to go to in order to dive the way we want to dive. They are not something we go to for any other reason.

I don't think there are many Tillies for $300... and anyone considering a Tilly should consider just getting a real Green Force.

Tony, I do have a demo Flexi III with 21w HID for $750

I've enjoyed my DR LED Lux quite a bit. It doesn't have a laser focused beam, but a nice bright even light. I don't have a problem with signalling, but from a distance, my signals require alot more arm manipulation. Gets 5 hours of burntime.

I payed $640ish for it... new. Mines not for sale, but if you are looking for something under $1000, I'd put it up for consideration.

    FWIW

After I bought my LED, I sold my 10w focusable HID(DR H10). Brand new bulb(fired twice), new battery(maybe 3 months old and full 4 hour burntime.), case, charger, and stuff for $380.

    Default HID Bulbs

Keep in mind that if you get a used 10 watt DiveRite HID and the bulb burns out/breaks, the price difference between replacing the bulb and upgrading to the LED head is negligible.

Depends on which 10w HID you buy from DiveRite, the H10s with adjustable heads aren't convertable like the MR11s are.
