Default Armadillo bungee set up with a backplate

I'm moving my CCR from a Nomad system back to a backplate. I purchased an Armadillo butt plate and bungee set up. The buttplate went on to my DSS backplate with no problem. The bungee set up is a different story. There doesn't seem to be any good way to secure the 2" strap and the strap is almost exactly as long as the plate is wide at the top, so there's no overhang for the bungees themselves.

Anyone using the bungees with a backplate? If so, how did you set it up?

    Thanks,

    Paul

I can't remember what the Armadillo bungee system looks like. But just buy some bungee, tie a piece to a high hole on each side of the backplate (make one if necessary), and then tie it to the chest strap D ring. Then just hook the loop of bungee around the valve handle and/or 1st stage.

Why do you want to go back to a backplate? If you must do so just drill a couple holes on both side of the plate. Thread and knot the bungees in the holes.
What rebreather are you using? I ditched the backplate, cut slots in the counterlung case, threaded the webbing through the case and never looked back. Cut my thickness by about 2"

This is how I do it. (Caver Kevin's rig in photo). Bungee in two holes in plate. bungee can be had in Lowes. See the 'fixtures/rope isle.

You could always buy a length of webbing and make a longer version of the dillo one. I had that same system actually and kinda adapted it to the nomad.

But alternatively you could just use the holes in the plates like mentioned above...

To really get the bottles to ride well, keep the loops just long enough to hook your thumb into the loop. If the loops can reach anything on your chest then the bottles will hang down that low. If you need to tie another loop of thin bungee into the thick loop in order to find it, that's fine. Might want to look sticking a bolt or sex bolt int he middle of the webbing between the slots in the spine of the plate. This would keep the webbing from sliding from one side to the other.

Can I ask why you are moving away from a side mount rig back to a backplate? I'm guessing you are diving a Meg because of your RBW profile. The plate will make the can stand off your back more.

First, thanks to all for the ideas. I'm going to give Meng/CK's setup a try, with a fall back plan to the set up that Andrew suggested.

I'm diving a Meg. I'm switching as I had an issue with the Nomad on my last trip. I switched from 2-AL80's for bailout to 2-HP 100 tanks for a bit longer dives. The Nomad couldn't generate the lift to keep me off the bottom once I got to the Park Bench at Ginnie. As long as I kepot the scooter power on things were OK, but stop the power and I sank to the bottom.

The Nomad had a couple other issues for me. It seems to keep things too busy from the inside of one shoulder to the other. I think the plate system, narrower straps, and straps that route from shoulder to rear of hip will be less busy. The buttplate and rails didn't seem to be in the best location. The 'dillo plate on the DSS large backplate seems to put the rails in the right place for easy on/off.

I'm not going for the pink and purple rigging though! Camo, maybe.

I just set my rEvo up for sidemount. I'm using 11-in DR bungees and have the quick links attached the backplate and using the DSS split butt d-ring (thanks Caverkevin ). I'm using the "chokers" since I do a lot of boat diving and its a little more secure than bungess loops. But so far its working well.
