I just dove Jackson Blue with Jeff Loflin yesterday. It is open for divers, you just have to register at the sherrifs office and get a key. you just have to park all the way to the left, close to the stairs, because of all the swimmers. but yes, they are open durring the day. Just watch out for people coming off the diving board as you exit.

Just check in at the Sheriff's Department if you're diving by land.
Julie and I want to dive Jackson Blue next Monday. We have not been there yet.
Will we be able to get in during the day? and, what's the key for?
Thanks for any advise from my "panhandle peeps"
Chris
the park opens at 10am for swimmers and locals. if you want to get in before that, you have to get a key for the gate from the Sheriff's dept. you can dive there anytime you want. it is my understanding, that you need to register at the Sheriff's dept even if the gate is open so they have accountability in case anyone comes up missing.

Bring your Drivers License and most updated Cave Card, they'll start a file for you at the Sheriff's Dept. Its $25 a day, for the first day and $10 every subsuquent day. $150 for a yearly pass.
Its not a bad idea to get the key if you will get there before the park opens or plan to leave after the park closes(so you can lock the gate).
Regardless of whether or not you get a key, you'll need to check out at the Sheriff's Dept afterwards.
also, when you get a key freom the sherriff's office, it will have a key to the bathroom which you will need before and after the park closes. edd's dive shop is near for fill and stuff.
Monday is a good day to dive there during the day also because they are closed to swimmers on Mondays so divers have the park to themselves. You can still get the key at the sherriff's office.

Or for a really relaxing vacation, rent Hole in the Wall House (call Cave Adventurers for the #), get a pontoon boat and a houseboy to make meals, and do Jackson Blue by water. Hands down the most relaxing cave trip I've ever taken (Thanks to Bill Graham of HITWH and Edd @ Cave Adventurers)! BTW, then you can dive 24/7 without checking in with anyone!
Thank you folks, I appreciate the input. Some websites say that JB is closed to divers
in the summer, but they obviously haven't been updated in a while, so I was unsure.
I was also afraid that we would be traveling through white limestone only to run into a Vortex like gate.
I just hope that I took care of all those warrants.
Thanks again guys.
