Last night I tried yet again to film an area of JB I call the "Figure 8 Circuit". And again, to no avail. I've tried numerous times to film this particular circuit (that I've sort of come up with over the years), but every time, something happens and I don't get the film. To wit: I have flooded and destroyed a Sony cam and a GoPro there. Another time, lights failed. Yet another time, the camera failed. A couple of weeks ago, I went with my dive buddy Mark. We had great conditions, and the film was going to be spectacular. Alas, I neglected to mash the start button to film and ended up having a great dive as seen on the little LCD screen, but no recording.
Last night, the jinx hit again. I had resolved to film solo, but met up with Craig from Pittsburgh. After I explained what my plan was, he wanted to go and I jumped at the chance to dive with him. We scootered to the Source Nouvea tee and dropped scooters. I set the jump, rigged the camera, and off we went.
This circuit starts at a tunnel Mark Sumner found and lined a few years ago. It crosses the Source Nouvea line and continues on past the only insulation I'm aware of in JB. From there it goes by the Deloach's Delight line and heads back into the Orange bucket line (remember that Jim Clark?). BTW, someone decided to remove the Orange Bucket some time ago - booooo! Next it joins the Source Nouvea line and returns to the gold line about 10 feet from the start. It's an approximate figure 8, and one of my favorites to take folks on.
Tonight, the viz was crap. Really crap. It cleared up in places, but overall it wasn't good. The filming again was jinxed. *sigh*. Almost as if someone had recently been through the area and made a mess of it? Hmmmm. We encountered 2 folks exiting by the first breakdown as we went in, maybe that was it? I don't know, but I'll try again next week. Dammit, I'm gonna get this circuit filmed eventually!
