Jeff Reeves, Marius Clore, and I dove a couple of the caves at Syphon Creek on Friday.
Emergence/Syphon Creek Rise - Visibility was around 20'. The line is basically gone now. It no longer comes out to the entrance, and has large gaps for the first 300+ feet. We ran a 350' primary with no sign of improving line conditions, so if you plan on going, take a big reel. Flow was still decent, but not as strong as last year.
Track One - Visibility was also around 20'. The new line with the survey stations is a welcome change. It is in great shape and run quite well.....kudos to the survey team. As usual, tons of trash in the cavern zone, and I removed a couple of plastic bags, and an old fishing rod from about 200', as well as a dozen clay pigeons from the entrance. It seems from talk around the shops, a fair amount of divers are diving this system, but it stills looks very clean. I only noticed a couple of spots of diver presence. Nice to see that those diving it are up to it. The flow was not bad. Several fishermen were disappointed that we were covering up one of the "good spots" with the kayaks.....
Myrtles Crack/Fissure - The run was completely dry, other than a couple of small puddles. The entrance was as clear as I had ever seen it. I could easily see the bottom. We were running low on time and gas, so we did not dive it, but I imagine it the conditions would have been great.
