Default Syphon Creek - Track One and a few questions

Boat was malfunctioning so we found a deep section of the river to get cooled off...a consolation dive.

We managed to stumble upon Syphon Creek - Track One
Track One is a siphon, but not too bad.
Line is torn and messed up. Tie ins are pretty sharp.
Vis was about 40' or so, pretty fun cave.

Planning on going back this week to replace the torn line with some new line.
    Only got 300' in @ 99' depth.

SideMount and small boat are tools best suited for this cave.

There was no point repairing line with our reel, as thin line is NOT the trick for the sharp as heck tie offs and siphoning flow.

There were some divers at the hole when we arrived. They said they went to "check out" the cavern. This is a pretty dangerous situation as the cave is NOT friendly.
Seems like a good place for a sign, however due to flow it'd need to be really heavy and angled.
Does anyone have experience making such a thing?

Where is the cheapest place to get 1-2k feet of gold line?

Do you'all use 2-4k foot reels for installation or some other tool?

Really, not all caves need gold line. More often than not a replacement with new #24 is adequate, but placement of the line is ideal. A syphon that can inflow very strongly ,I would put line in the ceiling or side walls, but avoid the middle of the cave. Frequent tie offs prevent huge sections of line from disappearing when branches get pulled into the cave.

In the case of gold line I use electical cord spools, then can be purchased for $6.

Thanks Kelly, It looks like someone had gold line in there previously, however it's torn and floating all around in the passage.
Replacing with new #24 may be adequate...do you ever use #36 for siphon/sharp tie offs? Others have said that #24 should be fine...but dang, those tie offs sure were sharp and when the flow picks up it'll be siphoning much harder.

You are right,#36 may be a better choice if you can't get it up high or along the wall.

We mostly run our own lines when diving the Santa Fe, the only one that has decent line in it now, that some friends and I put in, is Myrtles. As Kelly said there's no need to run gold anywhere on the river, 'cause gold braid divers don't need to be there...

IMO if gold line actually makes any difference in your dive at all then you should NOT be cave diving and SHOULD be cavern diving.

I took it as the op was just trying to do something good for all the divers that go there in the future.

Who would think that someone wanting to install strong line into a system that existing line is in disrepair would be told that he shouldn't be a cave diver.

Just my thoughts, bud! Part of the appeal of the river caves is they're not dove that often and are lacking the scuffs, handprints and scars that are so common in the "tourist" caves, it's nice to go somewhere and get away from the masses.... Putting gold line in them would be like putting safety bottles in Ginnie, there's no need for it if you know what you're doing! YMMV...

Good lord, here's a simple recap.
There is CURRENTLY gold line in the system, it's torn up all to heck and floating throughout the passage.
I will be fixing the line this week as torn up line floating throughout is not all that cool.
It will take several dives to do the clean up, it's a siphon and filled with all sorts of crap.
I try and fix things with as good or better materials than I found in place...thus the question about gold line. Please read the entire thread for comprehension.
If english is not your primary language then I understand as my spanish is not great either...however I don't post to spanish threads telling people they don't belong in systems.

Good for you mate! That "gold line" has been floating around for quite a while, as stated earlier we run our own when we go, but if you want to fix it up that'd be friggin' wonderful, hopefully it'll last a bit longer this time around...
