    Default ICE ROOM AT GINNIE

Does anyone know where the ice room is at Ginnie? I had a friend tell me about it, but I could'nt find it on my map.

It is in the Devil's Eye system. To get to it, you need to go up the Hill 400 line and continue past the 90 to the old "double lines" jump to the left. The jump to the Ice Room is a couple of hundred feet down this line just past the bedding plain to the right. The last time I went to the Ice Room the line to it started in a slot above a limerock slab. This line had two T's on the path to the Ice Room...right at both on the way in. This dive can be done in backmount, but would be best in a two man team. Visibility tends to be good only for the first diver on the 150' of tunnel past the two T's.

Thanks Lee. Is it a marked jump off the double lines?

John, the jump is not marked.....however if you enter Double Lines from the backside, after a coupla hundred feet, the line will make a 90 degree turn to the left, heading towards the back to back arrows and the jump to the Split. When the line makes that 90 deg turn look forward as if the line went straight and you'll see a limestone ledge, the line starts on the top of that ledge and is marked with a yellow line arrow.... as Lee stated stay to the right going in and the left coming out, and with good technique vis should be just fine. The line ends tied off to a memorial marker in a very cool room, either known as the "Ice Room" or the "Crystal Room".

Holler at me next time you're up and I'll take you there if you'd like

Hey dude, when you said the backside of the double lines, is it the first line to the right thats a kinda long jump that circuits back to hill 400, or the farther line to the left of that? I think Dave McLaren and I will be up there Sat. possibly. We will probably get to Ginnie when they open to sign in, and head to your place for gas. Hope to see you.

    John,
It is not the first jump that loops back to the main line. The correct jump to the right is about 100-150' in just past the short bedding plain. Like Rich said, when the line comes out of the low area and make a 90 left, look straight ahead and up into the limerock opening...the line starts there.
