Marianna is 770 miles from Dallas. 150 miles closer than Mayo.

Jackson Blue, Hole in the Wall, Twin Cave, Indian Washtub, Shangri-La, Springboard Spring...

    Arrrrr.

    In order:

    Awesome
    Hot and Humid
Avg less than 10 days per year where the temp drops below freezing in cave country
Like most other places right now
A nice gun club less than 10 miles from Ginnie Springs
You could spend the rest of your life camping the state and national parks and not get tired of it
No mountains - Lots of biking trails

Did it drop below freezing even once this past winter? It didn't in south Georgia where I live. But I have actually seen 22° at Ginnie one New Year's Eve.

One night the last week of this past February at Dive Outpost it got down to 25 degrees. Our suits were hanging outside and froze solid. Had to bring them inside and thaw them out before driving down to meet Jeano at Manatee to do Friedman's. It was 70 by noon, though.

I've seen it in the teens a few times while I was living there, the 20's were somewhat common in late Dec., Jan. & early Feb.

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

I remember one year where it hit zero there (94 I think) and people thought I was nuts walking aorund in t -shirt LOL it was standard at home temps for me that time of year --There was even a little snow flurry at Ginnie-it was great as no one was diving

On the drive home ...Georgia was having emergencies as they could not provide enough Natural gas for demand. -I unfroze pipes in a few restaurants along the way in Kentucky and Ohio (local plumbers not used to doing it I guess) That was a freaky winter... it even hit -45 in Ontario for weeks on end and all our water mains and home services froze

Other than that it was always soooooo nice to hit the warmth in Florida come xmas time- I can still hear the hum of A/C and smell the air to this day...some one mail me a pecan pie would ya!!!

I did chuckle once in The keys when I found wool blankets in the closet... all depends on what your used to I suppose
