    Default Other than Edd?s mods

I?ve been enjoying diving my Sidewinder but I?ve noticed that it is a PITA to put on.

I?ve tried a new method today and was really pleased with the outcome and the ease to don the gear.

I used some hook& loop and some other misc hardware. I removed the bolt snap and rope before entering the water. I left the hook & loop in place.

I have the same issue. I may try rigging something in my Jeep

    Thanks.

So I?ve been keeping the unit on a table or on the bed of my pickup, I hold the loop in my hands as I lift it up and once above my head it falls right on me, usually correctly every time.
The loop is not behind me, and then I can rest it back on the table.
Seems to work, ok for me....

but I do like the idea shown here!

The table method never worked for me. So I quit diving the unit unless I had a buddy.

    MOD 1.2

I took a 1? d ring and using a bandsaw cut a 3/16? opening in the flat part of the d ring.

Worked it onto the webbing of the SMS 75 and secured it in place with an AP Diving BK-31 Verti-Clip.

Sidewinder Mod update. After a day of diving at Ginnie I found the d ring and clip kept the harness flat and made it even easier to get in and out of.

Now I can move onto to the other mods I want to make.

I got tired of trying to reach the door handles when diving my Sidewinder and added a Dive Rite Butt Plate.

Works great and easy to reach.

What are those that dive the sidewinder doing about storing your jump spools, safety reel, etc?

I have been keeping them stowed in my dry suit pockets, however the suit recently started leaking in the same leg as my safety reel was stowed in, and I think it caused a hole to develop.

would the dive rite mod work here to clip the reel to?

    Looking for other options...

we're just using pockets, but it has caused us to think about what all we really want to keep in our pockets. For example I'll be trying the "arrows/cookies bungied to my light head" strategy today to see how I like it and it should help eliminate some crap in my pockets.

I have a D-ring on the back side of the crotch strap I hang mine on.
