Default Primary on right or left post?

I've noticed alot of guys put there primary on the right post but reading through my textbook it clearly says it should be on the left post. The reason being is so in the event of a roll off it would roll off your primary and you would know the problem immediatly. On the right post it would seem that it would roll off your secondary first which In an emergency if you go to your secondary and its rolled then your not so well off. So what's do you guys do? Reason for a certain way?

Primary on left post. If I have a rolloff I would like to know.

Of course, this is pretty much academic - I've only heard ONE first-hand encounter of a rolloff - add to that the fact that I have anti-rolloff handwheels and I DON'T do tight passage, such as bedding planes. It's unlikely I'll ever have a rolloff.

I have a feeling it's trying to say left if you look at the tanks while putting the regs on them.

I have primary on the post that is above my right shoulder when wearing the tanks.
There was a team in Ginnie two weeks ago that had a post roll off. When the diver looked at his pressure gauge he showed no gas or next to no gas and was unable to diagnose the issue and surfaced.

Put the long hose on the right. It would really suck for your buddy if you ha a roll off during an air share.... I've had plenty of near roll offs and a few complete roll offs of the left post.

    what books are saying left?

we teach the right because when you donate your long hose you wont know it rolls off until you buddy comes screaming the hes out of gas again!

If the SPG drops after a rolloff, then he must have a leak on that side. The pressure should remain constant after a rolloff.
