You have to be somewhat trusting to submerge leaving a parked vehicle when any non dvers are topside and see you go under. They know your not diving with your wallet, phone etc. and it isnt hard to post a lookout while the scumbags rip you off. These are desperate times for many, and someone cavediving to them apears well off so the Robin Hood theory kicks in and they figure youll replace your lost property fairly easily. They rarely get caught because theyer smart enough to resist if danger to them is possible. It happens in every town everyday and it sucks to be a victim.

May be an urban legend but reminds me of the guy in New York who parks his car and leaves a note in the window that reads "There is nothing in this car to steal." When he returns he finds the window smashed and the note is amended to read "Just checking."

I'm finalizing a house deal in the Branford area and theft is a big worry as I'm working in Boston so won't be there all the time.

On another note, about a month ago I was at a remote dive site accessed by boat and ran into 2 other groups also in the area by boat. I wasn't too worried about the foreign couple with the young daughter, bbut the 20-somethings with beer concerned me a little. All I had was clothing and phone in a dry bag. All was there undisturbed after the dive.

I have s waterproof dive bag that is meant to go diving with. I dove a river cave this week and put my phone gps .45 , and other valuables in the bag and took it in the cave with me.

On another hand if you want to contribute to the Adam wants a meg fund. I will hide in a ghillie suit with my bolt gun and keep an eye on your stuff while your diving

    OK, that was FUNNY!

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

Especially when they ask questions like,"How much does all that equipment cost?","I bet it costs a lot of money". Actually,my biggest concern is for my vehicle and trailer at the boat ramp, that historically is considered easy pickings, and these areas tend to be high in opportunitistic crime.

You would have been very sad if that "waterproof" bag leaked!

Only for the manufacturer... Adam might hide out in front of their offices in a ghillie suit

When I dive places like that, I have a friend wait in the vehicle with a loaded weapon. Last time I went to Wayne's World, I had my "bodyguard" watch my truck while I was diving, and took him out for dinner to thank him.
