Well, I bit the bullet and bought a new HID light to replace my old MLS with the MR 16 "club" head. Really light weight and compact. Now if I could just get diving.

Does anyone have some tips on using an HID light over my old Halogin? The owners manual is kinda vague other than cycle it a few times and I have heard some horror stories!
Thanks

Shocky,
Regardless of what brand light you bought Barry, Joel and Corey at Salvo can answer any of your questions and are usually pretty open to doing so.
With repsect to batteries, are you using Nickel-Metal or Lithium Ion? With mine, my routine is pretty basic: I use it and charge it. I keep a Watt's Up on my batteries and I have never had an issue that would make me deep-discharge or burn-test them (other than initially).
Walter has good advice, but the other issue is wattage. A 10W can burn safely out of water, 18W or larger can overheat like a halogen.
Thanks for the feedback. This is a DR 10W with a NiMH battery. Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

It is suggested that you cycle the NiMH batteries when new at least 5-6 times to get the rated burn time (4-hours, in an ideal world).....do not totally discharge them, keep track of how long the burns are...I've seen some that actually exceed the 4 hour rating by :30-:45 minutes, if they are treated right.
Right out of the box you might only get :45 min. to an hour after the first charge...just keep cycling them, they will get up to spec. after the above # of cycles.
WILCO
