    Default Prep Stands

I really appreciate the wooden prep stands at Peacock Springs, Orange Grove, Ginnie's Devils Spring for ease of setting up doubles. I'm wondering who developed these stands and why there aren't more at other dive sites (or for that matter at Ginnie). Certainly Little River could use a few, Madison, etc. I'm sure someone on this board has the history on these stands? Any info on who designed these, what they cost, why there aren't more? Could be a good NSS-CDS or NACD project!

    Default Stands

I would volunteer time to see more of these go up. Sure is easier than standing on my tippiee-toes trying to get doubles from the tailgate! Safe Diving!!!!

    Tippy toes??

I have to practically put my moose size butt on the ground to get into my rig. either your truck is a real nice 4X4, or mine is wayyy too low

1998 Dodge 1 ton 4x4 with the Diesel motor. The tailgate hits me about the middle of my back. I have to literally jump to get into the bed. Makes for the perfect dive vehicle until I can get my Ambulance.

    Default Picnic Tables

And more of them at Ginnie would end the continuing battle over the picnic tables. I saw twice last year where a diver came back to parking lot to find people eating at his table!!! The nerve of some people. Really it would be nice if there were a couple more stands mable two more on each side of the handicap parking space. Little river might be a little harder until it is a SP Locals will use them for firewood.

    Default prep stands

I second ltb7733's motion. I'm willing to donate both money and time to constructing more prep stands. Mounting a rig from the rim of a car trunk is much worse than mounting from the tailgate of a truck.

We did a couple of stands for the local mud hole. They are kind of pricey to make. 6 years ago it cost us $150 each for materials.

The really good thing is that no one will set up a picnic on them.

Would the state park people object to us installing them?

Certainly we could set up a fund. I will donate $20.00. Someone volunteer to handle the funds and get volunteers. I live too far away to get too much involved. I can supply prints and bill of materials.

    Default Prep Stand Photos

Here are a couple of photos of the stands I mentioned in the opening post. No one has commented on who invented these or actually built them? Any ideas?

I would be happy to donate to any fund that gets set up for these as well.
