Jackson Blue bathrooms

I was at Jackson Blue today and walked into the bathroom to find all 4 sinks filthy. There was grass and mud in all the sinks. It appears that someone decided to rinse out their boots in them. I spent several minutes trying to clean them out.

It hasn't even been a year since we've been given bathroom privileges at Jackson Blue. Let's not get them taken away so soon. If Chuck Hatcher comes by (which he often does) and sees the bathrooms like that, those keys will be gone. I like having access to the bathrooms, especially during the colder months. And I like having land access to JB. JB has showers and hoses all over the park. Use them, not the bathroom sinks! And if you see the sinks in this condition, do something about it.

Absolutely! Over half of my dives at JB have been with female buddies, and after eight years of watching them have to go off in the woods to pee, losing restroom privileges is something that I DO NOT want to happen.

And...my first time there, we were too late to get a key...and whoever had the keys only unlocked the men's room...nice! Of course, they also locked the gate when they left and we were still in the water, but that's a different story

Regardless, it's a great place, well-maintained, and deserving of each of our extra efforts towards keeping it open.

My regular buddy is my wife, so the bathrooms are definitely more valuable to us than some other folks.

Shirley, sorry you had to experience that. Getting locked in the park has always been my big concern when I can't get a key. I hope it didn't take too long for someone to get the gate open for you.

There are currently only 3 keys available. Whoever is the first in on weekends should just dummy lock the gate because chances are all the keys will be signed out but not all divers go straight to the park from the sheriff's office.

If you manage to get a key and there are still a couple teams still in the park when you're leaving, be courteous. Ask the other teams if they have a key, if not, leave yours with them. The Sheriff's Dept knows there are only a few keys left and don't mind if you pass the key on as long as you let them know who you passed it on to.

Aahhh, getting locked in was no biggie, I think we were "stuck" less than an hour...the dive was WELL worth it...I'll be back, again...and again...and again!

It would be nice if the Sheriff's office would mention the issue when handing out the keys, just in case the person is "new" to the site and doesn't realize not every one gets a key.

Unfortunately, the dispatchers don't really know what goes on over there. All they do is make sure paperwork is in order and hand out keys. The Parks department is supposed to be updating the gate to an electronic one. I was hoping it would be done by now.

Considering that this is my backyard cave, I'll take any system they have for access as opposed to nothing. In future (starting tonight), a quick police of the Men's room will be part of my routine. Ladies, please add your side to your checklist as well. The Parks Department likes us, we are a good source of off season income - let's keep it that way.

Nothing wrong with knocking on the ladies room door, or if you know there are no women divers at the park just going in and doing a quick check of that side either. Thanks for adding that to your checklist.
