    Default Current Conditions

I am curious about recent conditions (flow, vis, killer amoeba,...) at any of the following cave systems: Jackson Blue, Peacock, Cow, Little River, and Madison Blue.

Any information from this weekend or last week would be great!

I'm no expert but I don't believe that the 'killer amoeba' live in the large springs. The amoeba live in the lakes were the water temp is +80F. Of course if you have to swim in a hot body of water to get to the spring....well....I don't know..... Now I'm worried about the skin worms at Peacock, so I can't win at this time of year.

Good luck. Ginnie Springs is always nice, though often crowded....so maybe there you need to think about E-Coli?

    Default Jackson Blue conditions

I dove there Thursday, 9-20. Flow-none to speak of. Viz-clear, 100'+. Killer amoeba-well, I still feel fine this morning, but I was in a dry suit and didn't drink the water.

Dove P3 and Orange Grove 9/18/07 Tuesday. P3 was the clearest I've seen. Cavern alittle cloudy, once tie to main line viz is great.

Orange Grove basin very tannic there was a line run from about 20ft to main line once in cavern very clear.

    happy diving

Water appears to up at Peacock from a month ago. Basin in P1 is about 5' vis but clears up by 10' depth. Water clear in the system except between Peanut restriction and Challenge as usual. Challenge is clear. Basin in OG 15' vis or so.

Cow is great. Basin is clear. Water up a little from a month ago. Flow is similar to what I have seen in the recent months. No locals this time.

Madison was great. Flow is again pretty low. Locals appears to be back in school. Vis clear up to 1300' on main line and Godzilla circuit.

This is good news Raphael, I should be in cave country on Wednesday afternoon for a few days. Not sure exactly where all of my diving will be, but I do know there are a couple of sidemount dives in my very near future!!! Thanks for the update.

It is also very quiet down there. Not that many divers that time of year.

I was at Peacock 1 on Saturday, The basin and most of the cavern was blown out, but the cave was nice and clear. Some particulates in the water, but not bad at all. We did a leisurely dive to Olson and back, it was nice.

Sunday I was at little river. Water level looked lower than 3 weeks ago. Maybe down 6" or so. PITA getting in and out ( unless you're fit and skinny) The vis was good, and the flow was down considerably. Did another leisurely dive to the florida room, and back. Worth diving while these conditions last. The stairs still suck though
