I did a short dive today at Little River for about 20 min with slow assent of about 10 ft per min. After the dive I stayed on the surface for a short while and walked up the steps. I chatted for about 20-25 min with a buddy as we took the gear off and parted ways. I had to drive toward work as I had been told to come in early for a meeting. I had enough time to get stop and eat so I took about 30 mins off to eat after driving about 30 mins into town. I felt fine before and right after lunch. After lunch I started driving to work. Work is about 20 min from town and when I got there I started feeling some vertigo. I came on in to work and went to the meeting trying to pay attention to the presentation but feeling really weird. All the time I'm beginning to wonder if I might be having a case of DCS. During a break in the meeting I tried to see the company nurse but she was tied up.

An hour later right after the meeting broke up I went to the nurse and had her check my blood pressure and I borrowed the O2. I stayed on it for about 20 min to see if it made any difference. I could not tell any difference. I had not other symptoms but decided that denial is the number one sign of DCS that I should call DAN. After getting the travel desk I told the agent the info he asked for and he paged a doctor. It was not long before he got back with me. He asked more questions and told me I probably had an infected or inflamed inner ear since there were no other symptoms.

The reason I am repeating this is for the new divers out there on this list. DAN is one of the best things I have spent my dive money on and is very helpful.

While my profile did not really suggest DCS I thought to myself its better to be safe than sorry. If nothing else it will give you some piece of mind. This doctor even went on in how to treat what he thought I might have and told me to call him back if I had any question in the morning.

Folks they are a top notch organization and a divers best friend.
