    Default Hydration

Thinking about integrating a camelbak hydration pack into my sidemount rig... I know others are doing various things to carry hydration on long dives, aside from pulling your reg out and sipping the spring water, how are you guys doing this? I saw a picture on the front of the NSS-CDS journal with JJ having a camelbak strapped to his stage bottle.

Actually camelback is a redundant buoyancy feature w/oral inflation.

We had a conversation w/FL state water testing team in Ginnie. They stated that no spring in FL currently have safe test to ignore e-coli concentration in a water, that includes Ginnie and Madison-B.

I guess staging water or food is reasonable for dives over 2 hrs. My average dive time is less than that. For the rare exclusions i have an old DR suit pocket w tabs that attach to O2 bottle clamp. Pocket is large enough for Powerbar and one of those bottles w/nipple cap, and more importantly - cookie to feed the fish on long boring deco.

thats a shame to hear about Ginnie and Madison B. I've been drinking the water there for awhile but not while swimming behind any of you.

those "capri sun" type foil drink packs you put in your kid's lunchboxes work well too, but you cant fill them with beer. Does anyone know where I can find "BBQ Pork" flavored powerbars? All mine taste like electrical tape.

Stuffing things on deco bottles works good enough...

    Default diving drinks

I did use the plastic bag and hose/mouth clamp (like a camel, different brand) when diving down in Mexico. The dives were long enough (and the water possibly salty) so I just tossed one in the zipper pocket on my waist strap. I ended up putting light mix gator aide in it. It would be good to attach to a stage with a rubber band etc. also. I liked having it, but it was wierd to drink underwater!

    Default hmm...

how about sandwiching it between the bladder and harness of a typical transpac sidemount set up? That's what I was thinking of trying...

    Default dehydration

Like to use a self-contained-underwater drinking apparatus attached to my reg mouthpiece. The original mfr just went out of busines, but someone else is supposedly going to make a copy soon.

    Default hey....

    Hey Ryan...
Great to hear from you... havn't been back yet, did twin for the first time and was pretty impressed. Mostly been at JB since I ususally dive alone.... seeing all sorts of new cave... tight and silty, the way I like it! Let me know when you're headed back to Marianna and want to squeeze a late night dive in!
