We did a dive at Jug Hole on Sunday 1/7/07:Originally Posted by tomhauburn
Conditions were great! The flow was pumping. The visibility was 20' - 60' depending upon who was going through the restriction at the time. We went to the end of the line at 580' and then turned the dive. We took it slow and easy. The main objective was to take lots of pictures. I had 37% in my sidemount 120s. I exited with the majority of my gas still in my tanks. Bottom time was 60 minutes, maximum depth was 85', and the average depth was 45'. The morning started out overcast, but it turned sunny in the afternoon.
The weather was much warmer than Manatee a couple of weekends ago!
I hear you on that one being cold as I did not feel warm for awhile. Its supposed to be cold in the morning and I was trying to get my backpacking stove to work, just a little while ago for hot liquid refreshments tommorrow. I plan on taking a camera. Glad it was good. I'm looking forward to it. Did you post any of your shots?Originally Posted by Chip

Brendan's Law - "Know what you're breathing. Analyze your gas for O2 and Co. Analyze your gas each time, everytime, anywhere."
Visibility exceeded 100 ft and flow was very light (for this site). The walk without a cart sucked, though.
Please send line!
Nice cave even if its short. First restriction was ok and second restriction interesting. I learned several things I need to work on my rig, tank attachment and hose routing. I brought my camera and let Guy take some photo's since I was somewhat task loaded. Photo's are interesting to me even though they for the most part did not turn out well ( Lack of strobe not the photographer ) They did show the places I need to improve. Guy did get one nice shot below.
I like how the black sand in front of the second restriction glistened in the light like it had diamonds in it. And behind it the cave looked like it had a light dusting of snow in it. We made the jump on the left on the way out and followed it until it went into a no mount. Does anyone have any idea how long that tunnel is and where it goes?
I want to thank Guy B for being helping me out during the dive and being understanding. I also want to thank Terry B for working with me last Sunday in helping to get set up. Terry told me it would take quite a few dives to get it right and he was right on the money. Thr first dive in the ballroom went better than the second but the second was still fun.

I did that one once but it deadends within 30' or so. The hole continues but it is too low and don't thing digging will help. The bottom is sandy though and vis is good.Originally Posted by tomhauburn
There are at least two cave systems hydrologically connected upstream w/Jug Hole watersource. They are north of the park and water runs a very long distance down along the virtual line pointed to Lake City. DiveRite people know more about it![]()
