Absolutely- He was an innovator and true explorer,but a very pleasant person to be around. The sport has lost a real legend.

Story coming in the next Underwater Speleology (next day or two). Michael Menduno's In Depth had a good write up with lots of references to Gavin's co-founding WKPP. I just learned about his death a couple of days ago -- 'been unable to log in here for months because of a glitch. Thanks to TJ for getting me squared away.
