Thread: Bushman's

  1. #1

    Default Bushman's

I recently re-read one of the books about Dave Shaw's last dive.

I cannot find anything that references any further explorations after that time.

Did the owner close the site, or is there still some exploration in progress?

    TIA,

    David

    Classic!

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Yes. I suspect Adam is using Sheck's old data.

There’s a new documentary that was recently made that was supposed to release this month. Says it will be available in the US in November. There’s also a decent YouTube doc called To Boldly Go which is also worth watching.

You can still dive the site. I was invited for a trip to that place. But I don't know about any further explorations.
The trip I could go with was organised for ccr divers and you must have experience with a full face mask, if something happened, in water recompression was the only way to go then. At the moment nobody knows when and if it will ever be possible again to fly all over the world. So I only know the trip is first cancelled till it is possible again.

Thank you all for the updates. Couldn't find much of anything on the open web.

I am close to FW's demographic, so no desire to dive there. Just curious.

    Thank you,

    David

Don Shirley of IANTD South Africa runs annual excursions out to Bushmans.

There are thoughts that the "foot" of the sinkhole might go further.

He also does expeditions to what he terms the big five. Some really spectacular sites in Africa. Well worth checking out.

There is that documentary coming out in November called Dave Not Coming Back.

Don still actively instructs and explores.
