    Default Reg-mount

Yesterday I tried out the revolutionary Reg-Mount. The GoPro mounts to the regulator so it eliminates both back scatter and bubbles.. I dive SM so I mounted it on my short hose, neckless. It does not interfere with anything as far as equipment is considered. Check out the video I did with it in Ginnie.

I think there are some legitimate safety concerns with this in an oog emergency. In a panic situation I could see this blocking the purge button. I find it hard to believe that the CDS is promoting this on their Facebook page while almost simultaneously having gold line T's 300' deep a couple thousand feet back in a cave removed. I really fail to see the logic here. Can someone please explain it to me?

Oh man, is this one up on the CDS Facebook page too?

How is this a good demonstration of the NSS-CDS standards for training, safety, and conservation of caves?? Never mind the reg-cam, about which I totally agree with Eric, here the dreaded blue tanks of death return for another "what not to do" video for new cave divers, but without saying as much, you're instead saying that this is OK. If this is OK by CDS standards, I don't know what the point of the CDS is.

Mods, please don't delete this thread like the last one, this is an important point. If you delete this because people don't like this video, you're just as much a part of the problem as the cameraman who didn't correct the diver's configuration.

    Another bone headed decision.

I was too lazy to google reg mount. Thanks for the link. That's a pretty cool device. I would be extremely hesitant to use it in tech diving. Sure putting it on the short hose means you're unlikely to have it get in the way in an emergency but why risk it. It looks like it could entangle with your long hose on deployment.

Safety aside... Looks like it would stick out far enough that jaw fatigue or biting through your mouth piece would be an issue. I wear a mounted camera on my mask for spearfishing and will stick to that. I rarely have an issue with bubbles coming up in front of the camera because of the angle of my head... Only time this would be an issue is if you're sitting upright.
