Default While we're on the subject of pee valves.

I recently purchased a new dry suit. my old one had the bolt style (unbalanced) and I want to install a new valve on my new suit. what makes the balanced one any better?

    Thanks Sam

I hope you are better at editing "overhead times" than you are at editing your "atrange" posts on this forum. LOL

nITrOGEn hAS nO lOnG Teurm eFFECTS- dOES IT? HEHEHEHEH

I did edit that error but the system did not seem to take, oh well.

Recently I was hanging out at a dive shop and a friend/ new diver was checking out my buddies older dry suit. I asked her to make sure that the pressure bolt (pee bolt) was open so there would be no residual pressure in the suit. Boy, she was pissed when she found out what she had been playing with. Teach her to start playing with things she knows nothing about. HEHEHEHEHE

I am in the same boat; new drysuit and trying to decided what to do. For now I am ok wearing depends, depending on dive time I might look into a pee valve. One thing is for sure, I am replacing the hosing with Pneumatic semi ridge hosing to stop any kinks.

Has anyone considered putting in a pressure release valve connected to a bag to stop the kind of thing from ever happening again?

Reminds me of the cheerleader back in HS who discovered the bowl of mountain oysters in the AG dept frig one day. Should have seen her face when she finally realized why so many of us were grinning as she played around with and fondled them. It was a busy day at the ranch the day prior 8)

I definately want to install a p-valve, to me its amazing how much stress is "relieved" when you stop and take care of business in a tense situation. I have already ordered a balanced valve because I got it at cost from my friends dive shop and it was only about 30.00 more than the bolt style.

If you use the proper tubing (tygon, or a fairly rigid similar tubing) and the valve is installed in the correct direction, and you leave a large enough loop for proper routing, you will never have a kink. (of the pee-valve tube kind, anyway.) But always make sure that you clear the air from the line (or leave the bolt loose) prior to descending- I seem to remember someone receiving any ugly bruise that way once... hehe

Default Balanced is the way to go..

I've had a halcyon balanced p-valve in both of my suits and never had a problem.... they are awesome! (and well worth the cost) I sometimes find that I use the valve more out of the water than in the water because I'm too lazy to get out of the suit between dives.... it doesn't help make friends though, so be carefull where you relieve yourself. Happy diving and peeing.

If there is a water hose near by just go over and turn it on then make everyone think that you are washing sand off of your suit. Works really well at JB 8)
