    Default Compressed Neoprene ??

I am getting ready to buy my 5th drysuit. I have had 2 trilams and 2 Viking rubber suits. I am interested in the Bare compressed neoprene CD2 or CD4 suit. Does anyone have any experience in either suit and their ability to reach a manifold?

    Thanks

I can tell you that crushed neoprene suits freeze solid after an ice dive, but you can carry it like a surf board

    Default Hey Mike...

Mike - any chance you might be up for the Grand Reverse on the 11th or 12th of March?

Sorry about the very blatant hijack Vince...hope all is well!

I recently and XCD2 Pro and have been relatively happy with it. I am 6'2" and 180 so the Medium Large Tall sizing is the reason I bought the suit. I have one of their wetsuits and heve been extremely happly with it. Most of the other manufacturers are more of a Budwiser cut that is unacceptable for my frame. Flexiblity is good, additional insualting value of the crushed neo is goos so that I wear only a light polypro piece under it for 2 hr dive with 30 +- deco without any chill whatsoever. The suit had a leak, a big leak, between the wrist seal and the sleave that I should have fixed myself, but sent it back to Bare. As that means across the boarder to Canada, it was an 8 week event and they provided little communication during that time, but did put on a new wrist seal and eventually sent it back.

Even with the poor quality control, I would buy it again for the sizing. If you are and easy to fit off the rack size, there are better suits, but at under a grand it is a good value.

    Default CD4

Have about 200 dives in 4 yrs on a CD4. Starting to show some discoloration and the kevlar knee pads have some marks on them, but the suit has been great and the Neo. is tough stuff. Replaced 1-set of wrist seals. Still have the orig. neo. neck seal, but it is getting close to replacement. Got the suit with the socks instead of boots. I use wetsuit booties (2 sizes larger than normal). Socks starting to leak. Gamble has them fixed for now, but they'll soon need replacement too. No problems with valve shutdown (suit gives). I'm 6'2", 185 lb and have the MLT. The fit is nice and trim like a wetsuit. Using polypro turtleneck underneath 100gm PolarTec top and bottom. Works well. Make sure they put the pockets where you want them. More pocket options now than when I got mine. I have 3 of their wetsuits and like them too.

Hey vince, i think i am going to go for the 2 suit model, a trilam and a semidry, like a henderson or something...that way you can have the best of both worlds. good diving with you and jeff this past weekend!! looking forward to a trip to the banana room....bill

    Default Compressed neo

    Hi,

I read the post and responses with interest.

The compressed neos are getting to be as flexible as the trilams. There is a trade off and we all know trilams are flexible but don't keep you as snug and toasty as a ne.

The compressed neos are getting there. I have compressed neo resin impregnated O3 dry suit....it is very very toastyand fairly flexible...more so than a "standard" neoprene dry.

They are also a lot tougher and great for wrecks and poking about.

Having said that, I have only tried a friends trilam and a friends thick standard neo on one dive each.....I prefer the compressed neo for the warmth and the flexibility, as we were under ice.

I suppose it boils down to conditions. I would say a trilam in a spring would be better, where it's not cold cold.

May the current and flow be with you.

I dive a trilam and was considering looking into a neoprene because I thought I would be so much more streamline in the water. All the ripples act like sails and cause a lot of drag.
