Default Petrel Clearing Decompression Status Mid Dive???

Has anyone had problems with their Petrel clearing decompression status during a dive? I was on a dive last week and mid dive after racking up 45 min of decompression my computer cleared the tissues. Thank God for the back up. The battery was good but it was as if it temporarily lost contact and reset the computer. The battery contacts are clean so it's a mystery as to why it happened. I hear there might be issues with the contacts that are currently in the computer and that you can send it to Shearwater to get gold contacts?

You'll get an answer from Shearwater as quickly or even faster than here.

I experienced a similar issue and I do believe Shearwater will replace the contacts, though I have not. The quick fix that worked for me was to use the eraser on the end of a pencil to clean the contacts, especially the interior contact. Also, using a different type of battery may avoid a recurrence.

Thanks. I will try this before shipping it off. Going to put a Saft battery in it this time

has everyone had an issue with a petrel/predator at some point? This last month I've been hearing about several incidents, after always hearing they were super reliable before. maybe there's a funny batch or update, or maybe it's after a certain number of years. If I had any guesses I might start a poll to see how long it took for everyone to have an issue, but i don't have any idea if there are 4 people or 400 people who have ever had an issue.

Personally I have heard from people in person or online having more issues with the petrel than the predator. This seems to be one of the currently most common issues. Regardless shearwater is in a different stratosphere of awesome than the competition.

I bought a Petrel when they first came out. Used a AA battery in it once and it acted funny. Changed over to SAFT's and haven't had any problems. I know they are changing the contacts out in some of the Petrel's but I have hundreds of dives on mine with the SAFT batteries without any problems. I know your boyfriend was cross dressing at times but I was not aware that you had gotten to the point of calling him your wife.
