It's not cut and dried, but it's usually reasonably uncrowded. As long as it's not unseasonably warm, Little River, Telford, etc. are devoid of locals. Peacock hasn't been "crowded", and Ginnie is about as usual (lots of campers).
This is based on going to cave country for the last seven Thanksgivings.

Always one of my fav. weekends to dive all year!!
We usually visit friends in Tally. after Thanksgiving - my wife hangs out with her longtime girlfriend and I slip away and go cave diving... hehe
In fact, I'm formulating my plan for this weekend now... if anyone's up for a dive sometime, PM me and maybe we can work something out... the area from Ginnie to the Millpond (or even Vortex if I am desperate![]()
) is fair game... I'm getting back onto the CCR again after not having it for a while so I have a new found appreciation for simple beginner cave dives at the moment that I can do on rebreather... or we can do something else and I'll go OC (even though I should try and stay married to the rebreather for a while..)

I'll be cruising the Mill Pond.![]()
I-75 traffic coming home is always a nightmare on Sunday.
At least you don't have to come all the way to ATL.. it just gets worse - Henry County south of Atlanta is usually dead stopped on Sun night coming back into town...Originally Posted by Kelly Jessop

The last time I was cave diving over Thanksgiving.....Ginnie was a ZOO! The cave was great....very few cavedivers, but getting to/from my vehicle was a nightmare. I was at a table next to Sidemount Jeff, and he commented that the little kiddies on their two-cycle minibikes wouldn't be in the cave. True, but breathing their exhaust up to that point probably didn't do too much good for my lungs in the meantime!! Plus my hearing was shot.
Had several good Thanksgiving's in a row in cave country with Captain Tom frying turkeys at the Country Inn for a bunch of displaced cave divers.
Friday a great day at Ginnie, it was not very crowded. There was not too many crazy kids on 4 wheelers, there was no one in the way as far as tubers and swimmers even tho it was very nice weather. The divers that were there were very good and there was no problem with a spaghetti junction in the ear. Over at a great day.

JB and the Millpond were great at 2AM Sat. as well... not crowded either.. cool wildlife sounds... packing up with the sun rising was quite... er.... different... and an apres dive breakfast at Waffle House hit the spot..![]()
