Angry To whoever dumped sorb on the picnic table at Ginnie this weekend, 26 July 2014

You are a jerk. I went through Devil's to finish my full cave, and wore my fingers raw. When I came out, I set my tanks on the table to unmount them. When I later picked up the tanks, I felt every nerve in my fingertips scream!

You insensitive jerk...people like you are going to get rebreathers banned at Ginnie...and give rebreather divers a bad name. May you spend eternity in that special place in hell reserved for bottle-stealers and people that talk in theaters.

It sounds like three lessons were learned here today...

    1. White rebreather stuff is caustic and hurts open wounds.

    2. Pull and pull should probably be supplemented with reading the cave and currents better so fingers don't get beat up as much.

    3. Bring a brush to clean the tables of sand and sorb and cigarette butts before unloading gear.

I hear you on people cleaning up after yourselves. Personally I'll take the sorb mess over catheter condom leftovers.

On point number two, if you're up at ginnie next time I'm there, and you're interested, I'd be happy to do a dive with you and show you a few tricks. I don't leave that cave with beat up fingers anymore and I do 3+ hour swimming dives.

No need to start your full cave diving career with animosity and angst to some of these guys who probably have hundreds of cave dives. Might be that they were well intentioned and just forgot to clean. I try not to make assumptions.

On a related note... if you complain about your fingers and someone invites you out for hot wings, they're not your friend.

I've encountered numerous insensitive jerks in my time and I used to think they must be some kind of special category of person. Mean people. Jerk People. Thoughtless People. Dumb-Ass People. Then it occurred to me that there is no special kind or category. We are them. I've been mean, a jerk, thoughtless, dumb-ass. Guilty. Sometimes you really didn't change lanes just to cut someone off, you honestly didn't see them. Maybe you didn't even intend to change lanes just then. And those stop signs? There are so many and missing one or two can't really be that bad (until it is). I don't do these things on purpose. I did not leave sorb on a picnic table, but I could have. I have never left a condom either and never even put them on tables (post-use anyway). But I may someday. So maybe the sorb-leaver had just finished his last training day and in his or her excitement, forgot all about brushing the table, although he/she was quite proud of the new whisk broom and dustpan they'd bought just for that purpose.

Some of us make those "mistakes" quite a bit more often than others though, that constant "forgetfulness" can make someone a jerk.
