Cool Summer diving in Cave country! What to do ?

The kids are out of school, many parties going on in the woods & springs, thieves are out looking for gear & or cars, & it is HOT ! What to do?
    1. early mornings are best for diving, evenings are good later after bed time.
(besides you may experience some unique swimmers in popular spring heads !)
    2. go ridge walking...find some new spots.
    3. Hide until it cools off.
    4. fix your gear.
    5. Take a jet to A-basin..they are still skiing out there ! (Alta has more snow !)

    Combination of 1 and 3.

Dive with a semi-dry neoprene suit.

I'm all for ridge walking but I collected ticks at the rate of 1 per minute looking at a well know sink in the woods last weekend...

I'm in the gear up fast and don't dilly dally camp personally... You still sweat but you'll survive

I'm in the screw it lets dive category. I am used to heat. All day long almost every day in body armor outside at Fort Stewart. Heck, diving is a cool down period! LOL!

It's not the years in your life that matter, but the life in your years.

Dr. X and I are cold blooded and don't mind gearing up during the summer. We are careful to sort our gear so we leave the gearing up to the last minute which allows us to get in the water as quickly as possible. Amazing how much a little water on the face will cool you down even when the rest of you is hot.

2 summertime means extra daylight and weekday afternoon diving becomes attractive.

I started diving wet again during the trip to Wakulla, as my one drysuit dive I wore only a lycra skin for an undergarment and still felt hot.... Sorry, but drysuit is for winter time (unless there's more than 20 minutes of deco).

Other summer cave country tip, avoid the popular party spots, and dive at places that are more for cave divers and/or have lots of duckweed!

Also, keep all your gear locked down AND out of sight....

When helium was cheap(?),we had a friend with a 13 cuft tank of helium with an inflator hose. That cool blast of helium in the drysuit during summer was heavenly.

Usually save ridge walking more for the winter when it is cool, less red bugs, and the banana spiders are gone. I like ridge driving with a vehicle with AC during the summer .
