Default Little River 18 April 2013

In town just for the day, with time for one dive.... So, I met with Rich Courtney at CCDS, and headed for Little River this morning. The water level is still up at LR, with the bottom deck of the stairs making a great spot to hook up our sidemount tanks. The basin is fairly clear (a little tannic "yellowing" of the water, but clear enough to see 40'. There wasn't a visible boil, and I take it that the flow is down (can't say for sure as this was my first dive at Little River)....
Turned out to be a nice dive. The visibility in the system was 30' (maybe a little more), with some particulate in the water. Had a nice mainline dive for an hour...and met some other cave divers from Utah (sorry, I'm bad with names).
Anyway, another fun cave dive with a great dive buddy (and instructor)! (see Rich, here's your free plug!)

Nice to meet you too MacLeod. Our names were Kirk, Amy and Josh from Utah. We enjoyed our dives as well. The entrance was a beautiful green color on our exit.

70' before the chimney. 104' through the mud tunnel to merry go round all the way to the Florida room. Depth didn't vary more than +/- 1 ft the whole way. Used EAN 32. 23' at the log entrance for deco on EAN 50. Hope this helps.

You beat me to it. I also had 104', EAN32. Deco at 19' above the log on 99% O2....

Past the Florida room you're going to get a bit deeper. 5' or so (IIRC).

Just dove little river today. 24-Apr. Water still up to first landing on stairs.
Flow more than I expected but still below normal. VIs about 30 feet up to chimney and merry go round. dropped a bit thru the Florida room. Just past 1300' of penetration and a nice ride out with the flow.
22' at the rebar. 114' max depth out to 1300' got low but not all the way as deep as possible.
Tied off to the tree and could easily see the cavern entrance when I got back up to 50' of depth. It is getting back to normal slowly but surely.
There was a lot of silt all over all the ledges etc.
Overall a good dive with the water up that much in the basin.

I meant to say that someone should take a scrub brush in LR, and clean off the warning sign. I tried with my hand, but some of the mung is stuck pretty good.

Kinda ironic. I saw the hand marks and tried the same thing, definitely need a brush or scrub pad.

John Spann and I hit LR today (the 25th) and jumped into the Harper Tunnel. Water level and clarity was pretty much as Navycaver reported. Max depth was 110 feet, dive time 110 minutes. Water temp, 69 degrees. (And we were the only divers there.)
