    Default Wormhole last night (8-17-2012)

Had a great dive in the wormhole last night. Vis in the run is getting interesting, the dark water had retreated to the ear but is now pushing to the eye.
Went in the ear and swam a stage to the hill in hill 400, then on side gas through the worm hole.

Sucked that someone tied a reel into the line and must have either been lazy or stressed as they cut their line off after exiting at the hill. This left a decent amount of line swirling around in the small, snotty section which is kind of douchey. We got it cleaned up and enjoyed the rest of the wriggling.

Looks like there has been more traffic in the wormhole and I saw a decent amount of damage and broken rock outcroppings that I didn't notice earlier in the year.

Please be careful in there and cave gently. Divers should be able to do the whole thing without slamming your tanks on the rock, just use sidemount and turn sideways in the small sections and think about how to best slowly move through the others; For petes sake don't just pull through and break things all to pieces. It's a very neat part of the cave and makes me sad to see large parts broken off that I didn't see just last month

The vis in the main passages is still at 40' or so. The river is still brown as all heck so it'll probably take a while till it's back to pristine condition.

So what do you think is the source? Used to be backmounters used to push through there, and you'd see classic ceiling wear and tear. Is the damage on the side walls?

One large piece broken off was off to the side, coming from the hill side, before the T on the left....which would seem to point to a side mount rig.
I'd say that the source is cave divers, pulling themselves with force in areas where they should just mellow out and find a better way of fitting. Nothing in there is especially tight if you just move your body around to accommodate the cave.
I thought it odd that someone tied into the end of the line, came out to the hill at hill 400 and then cut the line behind them. That side of the wormhole is less large and a bit snotty and it just seemed really inconsiderate to leave line hanging in the flow.

Bad technique is bad technique no matter what gear is used.

We are just seeing the evidence of crappy instruction, card collecting, and the results of exploration style rigs being used by people who don't care to have good technique and skills.

I think one thing that happens is people by a sidemount rig,and want to try their skills at something that is sidemountish, but not really have the training/skill to do this yet.

I dove this late on the 18th. I didn't see the cut off line, either I didn't notice it or someone cleaned it up already. I'm reasonably certain I was in there after you.

I dove it the 17th and cleaned out the cut line then, seemed kind of silly hanging in the breeze like it was...

HAHA! Good. I was pretty sure I didn't damage anything. LOL, it's pretty easy to make it through without touching anything in BM 85's.
