    Default SICK LIGHT

My Dive Rite HID quit on me. I think it's the ballast. I put a new bulb in it and it worked for 5 minutes and totally quit. Can I send it to Dive Rite myself, or it has to be sent from a shop?

So they will deal with the public? I thought they dealt with dive shops only.

I have always had great service sending gear to them directly.

Yeah, I have to stop using it as a sex toy! Seriously, thanks for the imput. I will UPS the light Monday morning, and break out the old MLS 50W for next weekend.

Just call them ahead of shipment and get a return number from them to put in the package and to tell them what's wrong.

Mine died last trip to cave country.

Hopefully they replace mine cord with something more durable...

Actually, I think you'll find that the light cord they have been using is the "fail point"...

Mine died last trip to cave country and DiveRite still has it. I have heard a lot of failures of the lights lately reguarding the light cord.

Hopefully they replace mine with something more durable...
Two weeks ago, I was coming out of the water on the steps and I heard a clunk, and it was my batteries. I guess when I unclipped my stage I caught one of the latches of the light, and it opened up just when I was getting out, so the canister flooded. I have a wreck 2 canister mounted with the switch down. Water may have gotten inside of the cord to the lighthead. I took it to CEE and we put a new bulb in it and it fired right up, so I figured it was ok. I even left the light cord on my dash board for two days in the sun. I filled a pot of water to test it at home the other night and it came on normally, then quit after a few minutes, and it will not fire.

DR is using a new type power cord on their lights.....all current model cords are orange/red in color; the older grey cords are stiffer. When I took my light in for repair they offered me an upgrade and changed out everything from the lid to the light head. I had the older style cord....the upgrade cost about what a new bulb cost......Again they have excellent customer service.....

Just UPS it to Dive Rite. They will fix it. They are using a different light cord. That's what my friend had just done. It is better to send it directly to them then to send it through a shop.
