I have an OMS in brand new condition, but needs a cell. I bought a trimix analyzer shortly after purchasing this one, so it was shelved.

I think the operating principle is a chemical reaction occurs within the cell with O2 and that makes a tiny amount of electrical current, the greater the current, the higher the percentage of O2, of course the cell is "used" up in the process. I bring this up as I think you would be smart to consider the cost of the sensor cell replacement in the purchase of any used O2 sensor. Think of them like batteries.

Of course but you can buy a new sensor. So if I can get a good deal on the machine and buy a new sensor. I am still ahead.

I ended up getting a new one from DRIS a year or so ago after crunching the numbers for acquisition cost plus sensor replacement cost vs. the cost of a new unit each time a "deal" showed up on the classifieds on most of the usual boards.

    Hard to beat this: http://oxycheq.com/index.php?main_pa...products_id=12

I'll do it just for the experience.

Have you built one of those kits? Does it come with all the parts? I ask because that isn't much more than just the sensor

I have built them from scratch with similar parts from Radio Shack and the panel from All Electronics.

I used the plans from Oxygen Hacker 1st ed, a million years ago...

They work great, cost for parts was approx $20, including the project box. Then $65 (back then) for an oxygen cell.

The $110 is well worth the price, you do not have to go hunting for the parts....it's all neat and tidy in one package and the cell comes with it!

I am still using mine from the first batch Oxycheq sold, probably just the ones Celia built. It wasn't hard at all, assuming you know how to solder.
