Thumbs up A HUGE THANK YOU!! to all Cave diving organizations and groups

With all the recent events and publicity surrounding underwater caves and cave diving I'd like to take a moment to send out a HUGE and heartfelt Thank You to all the agencies, volunteers, and individuals involved with each of the various Cave Diving related organizations (yes, even the individuals out there with no official affiliation) for all your efforts in fighting closure and attempting to keep cave access a reality for the rest of us. I realize it is a time consuming, unpaid, and often thoroughly thankless task that few are willing to tackle. Please remember that for all the criticism you receive that there are many less vocal out there who are appreciative of you stepping up and committing the personal time and effort to promote cave diving in a positive light. I for one fully appreciate all your efforts and the personal sacrifices each of you take on the behalf of myself and others. Keep up the good work.

Jeff, since the incident that occurred on Christmas day at Eagles Nest I have had the opportunity to speak to two different groups on Cave Diving in Florida Springs. My focus is first on the safety of the sport and second on the training required to participate in such a sport. The question always comes up about the cave divers who died Christmas Day. The first thing they hear from me is that those two were not cave divers.
The opportunity to educate non divers on the training and responsibility of each diver has changed the mind of many who said before they heard my talk they were in favor of closing all caves to divers. I am telling you this to say to all cave divers who read this post. Go out and get involved in your community and tell them about the requirements of Cave Diving. You would be shocked how many people do not have any idea that training is required to participate in such a sport. The people that you reach may be the ones that one day may be the decision makers for our future in the Florida Caves.
By the way, the audience is totally amazed at the beauty of the caves. Take video and do a safety and awareness talk. I am so glad I have had the opportunity to share my passion with non divers.
