Default 2 Halcyon Can Lights for the Budget Minded

I have two older Halcyon 18 watt HID can lights that I no longer use. They are still working, never flooded, batteries are also old, so note that in your decision to buy. The first is a large cannister 14 aH lead-acid setup with a Sartek style ballast and 18 watt HID head. The second is a 7 aH LA in a smaller cannister and same Sartek style 18 watt head. By todays standards, the cannisters are large and bulky, the light heads are the old but bullet proof Sartek design. I upgraded the cords long ago with high end Pirelli cables. Both will come with a charger and questionable batteries. If you have four thumbs and are afraid of sparks, I will replace the battery packs at cost. My labor is free, but hey I am slow..... As I said in my title, someone on a budget gets a cannister light that will do the job, keep the CFO happy and most likely fetch most of your money back when you hit the Lotto and sell it for the latest and greatest.

I am asking $300 for either system, charger included. New batteries at cost, or you can do them yourself.

Frank, what bulbs are in these? Welch Allyn or Brightstar?

And how do those aH ratings compare using nimh packs?

The bulbs are Welch-Allen. I have never seen the Brightstar ones. These 18's are brighter than most all of the 21's out there today. Something slipped in the design somehow. Don't know if that would be the case if new bulbs were required. I still have and use and Halcyon 13 X 18 watt NiMh setup that has been flawless, gives me 6 hours of burn and can run a Halogen 50 watt for two hours if I have a problem. New light is a Sartek LiIon-LED and it is the cats ass. I do not like the screw in cannister lid, but I can remedy that with a few hours on the lathe.

Donate them to the Indian Spring Guides. They use them for safety bottles.
