Default Opportunity to move to the Bahamas

I just recently found out I have a potential opportunity to move to Long Island Bahamas, for those of y'all that are familiar with the area are there any caves on long island that are diveable? I know there is Deans Blue Hole on the island which is something crazy like 300 meters deep and some dry caves also. How about some wet ones??

    What about dive shops?

I will be living in the Stella Maris area.

Also, based on the cave profiles around the Bahamas should I look harder into going sidemount?

There are diveable caves on most of the Bahamas islands. You have to remember that unless there have been cave divers on the island, nobody would have the motivation to look before. You may have the opportunity to find new caves!

It certainly makes it easier to carry gear to remote locations, but there are plenty of back-mountable caves in the Bahamas.

Absolutely. Go! And go sidemount. Talk to Brian Kakuck at Bahamas Underground. There is no better authority on the Bahamas. Great sidemount instructor as well!

Thats kind of what I was thinking with going Sidemount, I guess my next biggest hurdle will be fills. I know there is a dive shop in Stella marris but it's probably just air fills.

I will see if I can get ahold of Brian to see if he has any insight.

Most of the Bahamas, and Mexico only has air available. Brian had to buy his own compresor, so he could mix gas.
