The Dogwood City Grotto will be hosting its monthly meeting at 7:00pm on Tuesday 3/1/2011. This month’s program will be our own Forrest Wilson talking about his cave diving experiences in Australia last summer.
Here is the official write-up from the grotto mailing list:
“Our March grotto presentation will be made by Forrest Wilson. He will be presenting us with a slide show of his cave and cave diving adventures in the Mount Gambier and Nullarbor Plain areas of South Australia. The state of South Australia is over 1,000 miles across, and Forrest traveled the whole length of it to see vastly different caving areas. The water table is -45' in the southeastern karst area, but -300' in the southwestern Nullarbor Plain. Please plan to come out and share in another great adventure with Forrest.”
The Dogwood City Grotto is the local Atlanta chapter of the NSS and second largest organization inside the NSS (the cave diving section being the largest). While the grotto is made up of mostly dry cavers please don’t hold it against us, we do have three active cave divers (including Forrest) and another three or four retired cave divers. Everyone is welcome at our meetings and they always take place the first Tuesday of the month at the REI on Clairmont Road and I-85.
