    Default PSSP little River updates

I took our company from PA to the park to show off the official state insect & check the conditions out. I'm happy to say there are more mosquitoes present than I've ever seen, they almost convinced our son not to move down here, but they are. At Orange Grove the water is still above the top step of the bottom set of steps, still on the walkway area, but it is pretty clean, still tannic, I could see rocks along the side at least 6' deep. That is where most of the mosquitoes were, we didn't spray ourselves so we didn't linger long. At P1 the walkway is dry and the water there is pretty clear about a foot deep yet & a little tea colored.
At the headspring there is a big boil very tannic but clean looking. I assume without more rain the UTC should be able to make a test dive in 10-14 days, that is a VERY big guess on my part. John O. stated a few weeks ago about the middle of May. On Friday I'll check Olsen and Challenge sinks out, AFTER I've sprayed a can of DEET on myself.
We stopped by Little River the gate is locked the water is right below the gate area still, it'll be while for that water to drop enough.

Thanks for the update Janet, the boil at P1 is very encouraging.

Dove Ginnie today...water levels are back to what we are all used to seeing, vis is fantastic and flow is starting to pick up. There were a couple people swiming over the tarp to enter through the ear. Most still chose the eye though.
At the end of a dive I took a look up the ear, fair amount of ambient light coming through & could have exited there but the water is still pretty dark which tells me it's c-c-cold river water still pushing it's way into the ear. I'll deco in the eye for now where it's warm thank you

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

    Default Friday update

Water is still on the walkway at Orange, I can see down 10' at Orange & P1 and the area was shady. Like Mike said about Madison we have some line and sink work to do before divers are allowed back in the system, some trees are in Pothole & Waterhole.

    Default Little River

Checked on Little River today Saturday 7th in afternoon, water has
dropped back into the woods toward the John Johns. We did not walk around
the gate down the road to check exactly where the water is on the
road because of the Mosquitos. Too many Too big.

    Default Skeeters, not mosquitoes

Thanks for the updates everyone. We sit up here (12 hr drive from No Flo), watching the posts, and there's been very little posted up here about the conditions without calling one of the locals down there to find out what going on. I'm not sure if Rennaker wants to talk about the conditions or not when we call.

I remember being down there last year, and not wanting to take my suit off after a dive, without the escape plan, from the "skeeters". I grew up in Minnesota, so I should have no fear, but when they pound on the sides of the tent so hard you wonder what they want, you've got a problem.....

Keep posting....the water's got to go down.....
