    Default Madison.

Sunday Dec-12-10. Viz in system is low: 20-30' perhaps after a rain that was going all night. That is near the main entrances (head spring, Martz).

Rebreather folks, please do not dump sorb into trash cans. I understand you try to be civilized but it makes the park staff life harder because cans become heavy and plastic tear when they attempt to remove them. We went for a walk w/ranger and he is a nice guy and very friendly to cave divers. He said you would rather dump sorb on a side of a road - there is no damage to nature from doing it but the sorb in trash cans is makes a mess when breaks out from a bag with other garbage.

Did you finish your rebreather, or did the ranger just mention sorb for some other reason?

There is usually a dumpster near the toilets at Madison and that's the place to dump it. Trash cans with liners are always a bad place to dump this stuff, especially if you are using the same can over any period of time. Think about Cathy at Dive Outpost trying to lift out a liner bag with a week's supply of sorb from 2 RB divers and you see the problem. And, such practices can only leave bad impressions about people using RBs, and we don't need any more bad press.

We always carry a plastic bucket in the truck and put the used stuff there, dumping when we find a dumpster.

I don't agree with pouring it on the ground. Tried it around my house and made a mess. Suggest the dumpster is the right place for used sorb. Just my 2-cents.

Rebreathers are something that we have to go to in order to dive the way we want to dive. They are not something we go to for any other reason.

Rebreather divers like he said are very often now, and many of them dump sorb into park trash. Particularly he remembered a team from Australia. My rebreather is far far away from being ready. Citracaver is leading this project two steps ahead of me. I don't have time we just found 2 new dry caves and the mentioned weekend 2 more wet "Too many holes too little time"

Was there a couple weeks ago and that dumpster is where the ranger (politely) asked us to dump our sorb if we were going to when he saw we had rebreathers. Very nice guy.
