Default New Years Cave Diving Events

I was wondering if and where they will be any New Years cave diving events this year. I heard last year that there was something at both Ginnie and Jackson Blue Springs but I couldn't attend as I was only cavern at time. Now that I have my intro cert I would really like to attend. Does anyone know of any plans?

Walter, Jen and I will be at Jackson Blue. I'm hoping to get more people there as well. You are more than welcome to join us.

I didnt think any cave cert was needed to dive the cavern for the midnight show. Yes it is a cavern at night which is technically a cave, but with the entrance being lit up I think that rule is overridden. Russell will correct me if Im wrong and JB is probably different.

I don't know what the official rule is, but Ginnie Spring is classified as a "novice cavern," meaning open water divers can dive it. I've seen open water divers dive the cavern at night.

I think the official rule is: ow divers can dive Ginnie cavern during the day and they can dive at night IF they have performed at least one dive during the daylight.

That sounds like a plan. I will talk to Glen and Denise and see if they want to come as well.

Ginnie is surrounded by lights that can be seen from inside the cavern at night. Even though they aren't "natural" daylight, it apparently passes the test for a cavern dive, even at night. JB doesn't have lights around the basin and is considered a cave dive at night.

Once the glow juice is released at midnight it's self-lit!! C'mon down!
