Default Rabbit Hole in Catfish Sink

Anyone familiar with the "Rabbit Hole" in Catfish Sink ? Located in about 30' of water and directly out from the steps on the opposite side of the sink. I've been in the hole (not thru) and I understand it can be done in backmount but looks very tight. The line that is visible in there leads down to the Friedman Sink line and is double arrowed on the Friedman Sink line at about 150' from Catfish Sink.

I wouldn't want to try it in BM. There's of crumbly debris and it's fairly snug (2nd hand, as I stayed put at the base of the jump just where it started to get snug, while my buddy pushed forward, in case I needed to drag him out by his fins...again).

It has been 7 or 8 years since I have been through it. The last time I checked it out it was choked with debris again. Back mount would be questionable to say the least. If you do go through make sure the line is in good condition and watch the placements.

In 1992-93 time frame, myself and another NSS instructor laid the line that you have seen. It took us several dives to dig out the three restrictions and we did it all in backmount. As you probably know, there's a lot of flow going up that passage so it tends to fill up with crap rather quickly. It's a fun way to end a dive at Catfish but because very few divers swim all the way thru on a regular basis, you'd better plan on taking a shovel with you!

Last time I was in there was a couple of years ago, on backmount with my buddy Walter. There’s a lot of crap in any given day but that’s not what you have to worry about, it’s the fine silt that’s everywhere. The lead diver will have good vis going in, the second diver better like 0 viz. You’ll drop down and go to the left then down some more where it opens up some, under you will be a huge mound of silt. It kind of turns to the right then it opens up and you’ll be over another mound that will be headed down, the line is on the ceiling at that point and ends about 25 feet or so from the main line. If you or your buddy have never done it, I would suggest putting a line in at the main line so if you come out in low viz life will be easy. You might even want to take a main line in with you and run it the whole way just in case, who knows the condition of the line in there is. Turning around in there isn’t fun by the way.
